This course is ideal for anyone who has a general understanding of an Access database and would like to build or maintain a database in Access.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed to provide a more comprehensive look at working with tables in an Access database. A basic understanding of database concepts and/or beginner level experience using an Access database is recommended.

Course Objectives

    The goal of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to create and work with tables and table data in Access. Students will learn to create the structure of an Access table using various data types and fields, connect tables in a database to work together, and work with records in tables.

  • Creating Tables - Learn the components of a table and how to create a table using both datasheet view and design view.
  • Working with Data Types - Learn about the types of data used in an Access database, how to create a list of values with a Lookup Wizard, and how to add a calculated field.
  • Working with External Data - Learn how to import data from an external data source into a table in Access.
  • Creating Table Relationships - Learn how to relate tables using primary and foreign keys.
  • Working with Tables - Learn how to work with table data including adding and editing records, sorting and filtering, and searching for records.
