Who Should Attend

This course is designed for those who are either new to Windows operating systems or who are running an older version. Because it includes a general introduction of the software and how to use it, this course is perfect for beginners. More experienced users working with different software will also benefit from a tour through the operating system.

Course Objectives

    The goal of this course is to help students become fluent in Windows 10 so that they can feel comfortable working in it and take full advantage of its features. By the end of this course, you will be ready to learn more advanced features of the operating system and start using Microsoft applications within the interface.

  • Getting Started with Windows 10 - Learn how to log into and out of accounts and learn about the Startup screen.
  • Exploring the Desktop - Learn how to navigate the desktop with the mouse or with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Introducing the Action Center, Settings and Control Panel - Learn how to access and use the Action Center, Windows Settings, and the Control Panel.
  • Interacting with Windows, Menus and Ribbons - Learn about Sleep, Shutdown, and Restarts as well as the Windows Title Bar.
  • Using Tablet Mode - Learn about switching to Tablet Mode and the Touch Screen Controls if available.
  • Using Applications - Learn how to launch and quit applications and how to pin them to the Start Menu.
  • Customizing the Start Menu and Taskbar - Learn how to use and customize the Start Menu and Taskbar, as well how to create additional desktops.
