How to Freeze Rows in Excel We are back again with more Excel tips to make your life easier! Let’s look at how to Freeze Rows in Excel.

Select the row that is immediately beneath the last row you want frozen: You can complete these several different ways:

1. Select the number, click down on your mouse and drag the mouse down.

2. Select the number, hit the Shift + Down OR Up arrow until you get to the row you desire.

3. Lastly, you can click the number, hit the Shift button on your keyboard, and then click the numbers with your mouse you want to hide. This option is great when the rows you would like to hide are scattered through the sheet.

Select the View Tab: Located on the left side of the Help option.

Within the Window Section, Click the Freeze Panes drop-down: Normally displays as a blue and white-colored table icon

Select Freeze Panes: This option will be the first from the dropdown menu available

After you click “Freeze Panels,” Excel will insert a thin line to show you where the frozen pane begins: Shown below in the picture for reference.

To complete this for multiple rows

Some professionals prefer keyboard shortcuts for working in certain programs. For those of you who are looking for a “quicker” way to complete this task, we have the Keyboard shortcut for you. For PC Users to freeze rows via keyboard you are going to select the row that is immediately beneath the last row you want to be frozen. Then you will use this sequence of
keystrokes ALT + W + F + R. Which will freeze the rows above the selected row.

For Mac users is can For Mac users the keyboard shortcut is not actively available as a preset option. You would need to at it manually in your keyboard settings by following these steps:

1. Go to System Preferences
2. Keyboard
3. Shortcuts Tab
4. Select "App Shortcuts"
5. Clicking the Plus button +, selecting Excel, and recording your key combination.
6. In this case you must type in Freeze Panes, just as it appears on the menu in Excel. (View > Window > Freeze Panes)

After you have successfully added the shortcut, you can use any combination of your choosing
to complete this task in Excel.
